Mental Health Awareness Week is a time to promote understanding and acceptance of mental health challenges. As we recognize and celebrate mental health, it’s important to acknowledge the struggles that face many military veterans. The stigma surrounding mental health issues often deter veterans from seeking help, making access to resources and support even more crucial.
The experiences of active military duty can have a profound impact on mental health. From combat exposure to adjustment to civilian life, transitioning back to civilian life can be extremely challenging. Many veterans experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety, among other mental health concerns.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, let us work together to increase awareness and understanding of mental health challenges and the vital resources for veterans that are available. Together, we can help make sure no one has to face these battles alone.
