Defence Employer Recognition Scheme
Sam and Ben representing Healthscreen UK, Hear4U and UK Veterans Hearing Help (now the Veterans Hearing Foundation) joined many other businesses and organisations at the Leicester Tigers Rugby Club for the The Defence Employment Recognition Scheme Silver Awards Night 2019.
This year has been special for us particularly being awarded the Silver Standard which is a true reflection on how, as an organisation, we support and employ Veterans as part of our growing team.
As of 2020 we have successfully achieved the Golden Employer Recognition Scheme Award as The UK Veterans Hearing Foundation!
The Defence Employment Recognition Scheme
The scheme was launched in 2014 to recognise employer support for the wider principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for the employers that pledge, demonstrate and advocate support to the Defence and the Armed Forces community. This includes the Reserves, Service leavers, Armed Forces veterans, the wounded, injured and sick, Cadets, military spouses or partners and their families.
Why employ veterans?
Employing ex-military personnel has ensured that we have the right level of experience and direction to support other Veterans and, more importantly, with a military background, Veterans feel more comfortable with the services we provide.
Our level of dedication to supporting Veterans is unquestionable and it is our intention not only to employ further Veterans but to extend one part of the organisation to charity status thereby being able to meet Veterans needs even further.
Silver award for the UK Veterans Hearing Help (now the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation)
Our three Musketeers were presented the award by Colonel Adam Fraser-Hitchen at a ceremony to be remembered and, this was further enhanced by meeting other award winners and given further advice on how we can reach out for that Gold Award next year.
The team can be proud of their achievements and with such enthusiasm and dedication, we will reach that goal and ensure that our Veterans are given the best level of support both as an employee and as a supporter.
Sam, our CEO and Trustee said “This is a very special night for our organisation and a true reflection on how we support Veterans. It is my intention to continue, with the support of my team, to ensure that Veterans are recognised for what they have given to our nation both as an employer and a carer particularly those with hearing problems and mental issues. Are we going for Gold? You bet we are!!”
