On November 9th, the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation joined Birmingham City Football Club for a special Remembrance Event. Held in the Fan Zone, our initiative brought together fans, veterans, and supporters to honour the brave individuals who have served our country. This event was an opportunity to raise vital funds for our mission of providing hearing support to veterans in need, and thanks to the generosity of BCFC fans and the efforts of our team, the day was a resounding success.
The Day at Birmingham City Football Club
The UKVHF booth was set up in a prime spot within the busy Fan Zone at Birmingham City Football Club. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of energy, as our team was surrounded by football fans anxious to see the match.
The generosity of the fans was overwhelming. Many visitors came by not only to buy signed photos and raffle tickets but also to offer kind words and encouragement. The spirit of community was palpable as people of all ages came together to support our veterans. There was a shared sense of purpose and appreciation for those who have served, making it a truly memorable day for everyone involved.
Activities and Highlights
The Remembrance event at the Birmingham City Football Club featured various activities that made the day a success. Fans had the opportunity to purchase signed photos of their favourite Birmingham FC players, with all proceeds going directly to support veterans in need. In addition to the photos, we also raffled off two signed matchday footballs, which generated a lot of excitement. The enthusiasm from fans was heartwarming, with many contributing generously to our cause.
One of our favourite highlights of the day was the gifting of match tickets to two veterans who stopped by out booth. Thanks to the kindness of BCFC, these veterans were able to attend the match for free – one of them even shared that this was their first time at the stadium since childhood. Moments like these remind us of the importance of community and the difference small acts of kindness can make.
We couldn’t have done this without our incredible team. Our team on-site consisted of our lovely colleagues Lauri and Rachel, as well as our bubbly volunteer Steph. Lauri was in charge of organisation, making sure everything ran smoothly, while Rachael and Steph were there to welcome everyone with a smile and offer more information about the UKVHF and our mission. It was a true team effort, and we’re so grateful to everyone’s dedication to making this day a success!
Fundraising Success
We are thrilled to share that our Remembrance event at Birmingham City Football Club raised an incredible £1,471 in just two and a half hours. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the generosity and community spirit of everyone who attended.
The fans truly went above and beyond – many chose to overpay for items, while others donated freely without hesitation, simply because they believed in the importance of our mission. It was a humbling experience to see so many people come together to support veterans and help us continue our work in improving hearing health for those who have served.
United in Gratitude
The success of this event was truly a team effort. Lauri, our organiser, did an incredible job coordinating all the logistics for the day, while Rachael and volunteer Steph brought their unmatched enthusiasm and bright energy. Together, our team engaged with fans and created a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who visited our booth.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Birmingham City Football Club, and especially their marketing team, who went above and beyond to support us. They provided signed player photos and matchday footballs, which were a huge part of making our efforts successful.
We would also like to thank every supported who stopped by, contributed, and shared words of encouragement. Together, we made a real impact.
Looking Ahead With Hope
We are grateful for the community’s continued support and the positive impact we’ve made together. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting veterans, improving their hearing health, and ultimately enriching their quality of life.
Please feel welcome to stay involved, participate in future events, or make a contribution to help veterans in need. Together, we can continue making a real difference in the lives of those who have served.
